“There is a kind of incarnation of God in the world, of which beauty is the sign. Beauty is the experimental proof that the incarnation is possible.” - Simone Weil

To hope is to trust in promise even amid uncertainty and to engage the creative spirit within to magnify beauty and act as beacons of hope and change in our world. This full-day retreat will explore beauty, not only as a source of sensory pleasure but as our source of hope and spur of justice.

MEEC staff, Methodist Deaconess Beth Vanoli and lay Marianist Jennifer Melke-Marks will lead us in reflections and meditations on beauty, and we will explore spiritual practices to hear the sacred voice calling through nature, art and community. We will offer a balance of indoor and outdoor experiences, and individual and group time. We’ll explore the Mariainst Nature Preserve in Spring, spending time among the emerging wildflowers. Lunch, snacks, materials and supplies are included in the $50 ($40 for Friends of MEEC) registration fee.
